Sure, you can plan, prepare and agonise over kit, money and route on your bicycle tour, be it long or short.
However there is only one piece of advice that really matters – set off. It’s really that simple, what you’ve got already will suffice, you can work money out (check out tomsbiketrip for how to ride the length of a country for 25p – he also has some actually useful touring advice too…). Anything that goes wrong simply adds to the charm and adventure of it all.
Keep it fun, enjoy the journey and leave. Once you’re out of the door that’s the hardest bit over (except perhaps the first night, that can be pretty lonely and scary), after that everything will settle into place.
